The Tweed Jacket Is Back: How to Pull Off the ’90s Fashion Favorite Right Now

admin

Look back into at any '90s It Girl's wardrobe and you'll find one of these: A classic tweed blazer.

Tweed jackets were first popularized by Coco Chanel at the turn on the 20th century, but it wasn't until the '90s that the once prim and proper outerwear became cool and youthful. It all started in spring 1994, when Karl Lagerfeld sent out a spring collection of sexy, fun, and youthful tweed suits, crop tops and bralettes on supermodels Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Nadja Aurmann, and Cindy Crawford. After that, everyone wanted a tweed jacket in their style arsenals to wear with jeans and flats.

So we're pleased to report the trend is back with a vengeance. Style stars Clemence Poesy, Charlotte Le Bon and others rocked their Chanel tweed à la '90s, with everything from jeans to wide-leg trousers. Here's how to rock the look right now:

These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016

admin

The first day of 2016 may begin only mere moments after the last day of 2015, but there's something about a new year that makes us want to, uh, start fresh.

As we look forward to 2016, we have a pretty stellar list (if we do say so ourselves) of trends that are going to hit it big in the New Year. We can't wait to try them all, but the below 11 are, far and wide, our favorites of the bunch. From bright and bold stripes to sexy exposed shoulders; statement earring and embellished bags, these are the trends you need to try in 2016.

Bold Stripes
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Ralph Lauren
Choose color this season as you reach for bold, wide stripes. In any silhouette—from casual T-shirts to festive cocktail dresses—reach for bright, contrasting hues to make a head-turning statement.

Layered T-Shirt Under a Dress
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
No. 21
Up your styling game easily by slipping a cotton T-shirt underneath a dress. Try one under a slim pencil silhouette for the office or beneath a gown to make a black-tie a bit cooler.

Exposed Shoulders
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Proenza Schouler
Expose a little skin in the New Year. While off-the shoulder hit it big in 2015, this coming season's take on the trend is a little more dramatic, with outrageous sleeves or cut-outs adding just the right amount of appeal.

Pajama Dressing
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Thakoon
Keep it casual or dress it up with PJs dressing in 2016. For a fancier take on the silhouette, opt for silk materials and lace detailing, while a more casual vibe may call for a stiffer cotton and colorful piped detail. You can even wear them to work if you follow these tips.

Bright Bags
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Dior
When it comes to your hanbag, this is the year to go for color. You can rock it in every handbag style or size. Grab an oversized blue tote for weekend travels, or opt for a mini red box bag for a night out.

Low Slung Pants
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Michael Kors
The biggest pants of 2016 are going to be of the low-slung variety. Reach for a pair that's softly tailored to keep them appropriate for any occasion. Pair your trousers with a T-shirt on the weekends and grab a silk button-down for office days!

Shirting Stripes
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Diesel Black Gold
We’ve always had a bit of an obsession with striped shirts, but it's time to expand the pattern to our entire wardrobe. On skirts to dresses to pants, 2016 is definitely going to be the year that shirting stripes took over.

Marled Knits
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Jason Wu
The multi-tone texture of marled knits adds dimension to any look, but they're not so crazy you can't wear them with nearly everything. Pair a slim sweater with a leather skirt for work, or opt for a slouchier fit with your denim on the weekends.

Slippers
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Victoria Beckham
Boudoir dressing has infiltrated our wardrobes in more ways than one for the coming year but one of our favorite iterations of the trend is in footwear. Seek classic leather shoe styles, sans backs, for an ease of dressing that looks tailored and classic all the while!

Statement Earrings
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Roxanne Assoulin for Rosie Assoulin
Statement earrings are going to be huge in 2016—no pun intended. The more graphic and structured, the better: Reach for abstract shapes in bright hues, and wear them with your off-duty look or you're favorite cocktail dress.

Embellished Bags
These Are the Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2016
Marc Jacobs
The detail of the moment when it comes to bags this year is patched embellishment. They were all over the spring and fall runways and certainly worth an investment. Whether you shop the bag pre-embellished or DIY a bag you already own, this style is a major eye-catcher.

How to Wear Slipper Mules, The Season’s Most Fabulous and Comfortable Shoe Trend

admin

When you think of THE shoe of the season, images of sky high stilettos and head-turning over-the-knee boots normally come to mind. The chic, the incredible, but also the trends that don't always make our toes super happy. Rejoice! The shoe we can't get enough of this fall is not only elegant and polished, but also the most comfortable style around! With a flat sole and easy slip-on style, the slipper mule shoe trend is certainly one we can get behind—and suggest you quickly do too. While this season's fur-lined Gucci loafer has become a favorite among bloggers and editors, this must-have shoe style comes in all styles, for all budgets.

Similar to a classic loafer in shape, this pair of flat kicks is polished enough to wear to the office with a tailored skirt and blouse, but we are equally excited to style them with off-duty denim and chunky knit sweaters. Not to mention that their slip-on-and-go quality makes all of our upcoming holiday travels a breeze (take that, airport security!)

Scroll through our favorite ways to style the slipper trend this fall, below!

When you think of holiday sweaters, images of intarsia knit reindeer and snowflake jumpers that your grandparents gave you come to mind. Leave it to a bunch of major models to change all that—and for a good cause, too! Online fashion retailer, MatchesFashion.com, brought to gather models Kate Moss, Karen Elson, Dree Hemingway, and Poppy Delevingne to collaborate with it Brit designers Christopher Kane, Bella Freud, Charlotte Olympia, Giles Deacon, and Henry Holland, on a limited edition set of holiday sweaters. And no surprise here, the sweaters are really, really (really) cool.

The profits of sales from the collection will benefit Save the Children, a cause the entire chic crew are big fans of. “Bella is an incredible designer, and a dear friend of mine, and it was great fun creating the exclusive festive jumper with her," said Moss in a statement. "The fact that Save the Children’s work helps children around the world is amazing and, with the other models and designers, we’re proving that fashion really can save lives.”

The sleeveless coat is a wardrobe essential, purely for it's chic transitional dressing power. Perfect for warm fall days (or southern winter climates!), sans sleeves, this overcoat is just as awesome when layered over a leather jacket or heavier coat, come colder weather.

Look for a style with traditional tailoring, whether that means a double-breasted silhouette or collarless style. With a piece so effortlessly stylish, it will remain in your wardrobe's rotation for years to come.

The Perfect Skirts and Shoes to Wear With Tights and Hosiery this Fall and Winter

admin

From colored ribbed knits at Tommy Hilfiger to graphic, oversized fishnets at Proenza Schouler, the fall runways were overflowing with tights in every color and style. Which, might we add, is always a welcome notion, considering how cold the winter winds can be. An accessory that offers function and style? Sign us up. This year, though, it goes miles further than basic black (though we do love a classic!). With so many styles on the shelves, though, how's a girl to choose which tights go with which skirts and shoes?

We've rounded up our favorite tights of the season—from opaque oxblood to studded sheer, and everything in between. Scroll through and see how we're wearing this year's hottest trends in tights.

Oxblood:
The Perfect Skirts and Shoes to Wear With Tights and Hosiery this Fall and Winter
Floral Matrix dress, $375, rebeccataylor.com; Solid color tights, $13, welovecolors.com; Christian Louboutin Masterboot Chelsea boots, $975, barneys.com
As colored tights go, try one of the biggest trends of the season and go for a pair in oxblood. Balance the whimsical aspect of a colored leg with a classic shoe, like flat Chelsea boots. Though this hosiery trend pairs awesomely with a LBD, don't be afraid of a microprint, as long as the hues are all similar to one another.

Ribbed Knit:
The Perfect Skirts and Shoes to Wear With Tights and Hosiery this Fall and Winter
Victoria, Victoria Beckham Teddy wool-blend bouclé mini, $495, net-a-porter.com; Fine merino rib tights, $107, wolfordshop.com; Callie soft calf boot, $495, clubmonaco.com
This cozy winter style is like a sweater for your legs. Often woven in merino wool or thick cotton, the added texture is an immediate outfit updater. On cold days, style your ribbed tights with knee-high boots and a bright mini. Keep your apparel solid with this one, but don't be afraid of added texture in wool, suede, or tweed.

Oversized Fishnets:
The Perfect Skirts and Shoes to Wear With Tights and Hosiery this Fall and Winter
Flutter skirt, $48, bananarepublic.com; Tights, $250, proenzaschouler.com; Proenza Schouler grey felt sandal, $770, forzieri.com
For the fashion risk-takers among you, try this season's take on the classic fishnet tights. Larger in scale and more graphic in style, they are definitely eye-catchers. While we give you full permission to go crazy and pair them with equally whimsical shoes, try to keep your clothing neutral and more understated.

Heather Grey:
The Perfect Skirts and Shoes to Wear With Tights and Hosiery this Fall and Winter
Super high-waisted checked skirt, $60, topshop.com; Flat knit sweater tights, $20, hue.com; Church's The Burwood glossed-leather brogues, $570, net-a-porter.com
If you're looking for something a little more interesting than basic black, but just as classic in style, reach for a pair of opaque heather grey tights. Take advantage of their schoolgirl vibe and pair them with a plaid skirt and oxford flats this fall.

Studded Sheer:
The Perfect Skirts and Shoes to Wear With Tights and Hosiery this Fall and Winter
Carven crepe mini skirt, $590, net-a-porter.com; Wolford Daria tight, $58, wolfordshop.com; Amelia high heel, $295, loefflerrandall.com
If you want your party look to be totally next-level awesome, try studded sheers. While the sheer trend is always a sexy after-hours option, the studs add the extra va va voom you may be craving. Be it a bright color or dark neutral, this trend tends to work better with solids, rather than prints.

Opaque Black:
The Perfect Skirts and Shoes to Wear With Tights and Hosiery this Fall and Winter
Pleated silk shirtdress, $450, toryburch.com; Ultimate opaque matte tights, $34, wearcommando.com; Hyde bootie, $450, toryburch.com
Of course, there's always our tried-and-true best friend, black. A deep, opaque pair is warm, flattering on every body type, and goes with anything in your closet. No matter what new trends you try out this season (and we highly suggest you do!), make sure to have a few pairs of this trusty style on hand!

How to Pull Off the Pajama Fashion Trend Without Looking Like You Stepped Out in Your PJs

admin
263

Boudoir elegance is one of the newest fashion trends to come out of the spring 2016 runway season. We've seen teddies, chemises and even full-on pajamas on the runways of Celine and Balenciaga, to name a couple, which is very good news because: Hello, you get to wear your pajamas outside of the house! But no need to wait until spring to pull off what could be the easiest, comfiest trend in recent memory. Street style stars have already endorsed the look by way of silk pajama sets and piped cotton night shirts (not to mention Gucci's fur-lined slippers that editors and bloggers can't seem to get enough of).

Now, sure, Hugh Hefner has been rocking the robe for decades, but there are chic and easy ways to style your pajamas without actually looking like you're heading to bed. Follow these five rules of pajama dressing and you'll never look better not getting dressed in the morning.

How to Pull Off the Pajama Fashion Trend Without Looking Like You Stepped Out in Your PJs
We Wore What

  1. Instead of a jacket, opt for a kimono-style robe. Belt it over a pair of jeans and thin knit sweater for crisp fall mornings.
  2. If you're going to choose a matching pajama set, go silk. We love crisp oxford cotton pajamas for bedtime, but they're a little bit too fit for the feather bed.
  3. Be it silk or cotton, a pajama top is a chic alternative to a traditional button-down shirt. The accented piping and more open neckline make the top a perfect pairing to boyfriend jeans and pencil skirts alike.
  4. Look for a differentiating feature in your out-of-doors boudoir look that takes it to the next level. It could be a double-breasted top, printed style, or tapered leg.
  5. Whether you choose sneakers or stilettos, choose a pair of shoes that looks decidedly not like slippers when rocking a pajama set on the street. As awesome as a slipper may look with jeans, try to avoid looking completely like you did when you rolled out of bed.

The Fixer: De-Pill Your Favorite Sweaters

Two words, ladies: sweater weather! Forget the holidays. For any true fashion diehard, this is the most wonderful time of the year. Breaking out an old reliable cashmere cardigan or a chunky cable knit that carries you through the season is outfit nirvana.

But the more you wear your favorite sweater—even a well-made, expensive one—the more you risk the lamest fashion problem ever: pilling. Pure cashmere, cotton, wool, or any combination of those blends are susceptible, and there's really no way to know when you’re buying a sweater if it will pill or not. This annoying fashion dilemma is caused by a break in the sweater’s fibers and made worse by friction (which is why you find the most offensive pills where your arm and torso rub together). Enter the Fixer, who hates those little fuzz balls as much as you do.

No need for As-Seen-on-TV electronic sweater razors here: Turns out a $4 drugstore package of Velcro hair rollers will do the trick. Just lay your sweater on a flat surface, pull the fabric taut, and roll that thing over your pills to make them disappear. Easiest fix ever, no? You'll have to stop to clean the roller every so often, depending on how bad your pilling situation is, but the whole project shouldn't take more than five minutes.

To prevent more pills from forming, some experts say [link to http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB1000142405270230400750457934871346512669] you should "rest" your sweaters for 24 hours between wearings, to give the fibers a chance to recover from stretching. That is, if you can live without it for a full day.
