Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, and a European Queen in Real-Life Cinderella Shoes

We're consistently fascinated by women stepping out in real-life Cinderella shoes (i.e., those utilizing plastic and Lucite for a clear, glass-like appearance). Spain's Queen Letizia was the first to show just how chic it can be, wearing her favorite pair multiple times to official engagements where looking regal is expected. Now we've spotted the look on reality royalty as well, with Kim Kardashian West pairing totally clear sandals with a nude bodysuit she wore earlier this month. Prior to that, the unique accessories made an appearance in Taylor Swift's closet as well, and, frankly, with Dolce & Gabbana's fall 2016 collection going all-in on the princess thing, we're just counting the days until we see a street-style star style step out in the brand's take on the iconic slipper. For now, take a peek at how the shoes have been worn so far.

Pop star princess Taylor wore her Cinderella-inspired heels for a party celebrating "Red" back in 2012. The Christian Louboutin slingbacks had a sparkly black cap toe, but the rest of the shoe had the glass slipper thing going on.

While both Kim and Taylor do the look well, we might have to hand the official crown to Queen Letizia, whose elegant Magrit pair actually feel like the real thing. Compared to Taylor's, where the material is a design detail, and Kim's, with a funky shape that feels straight from the runway, Letizia's classic silhouette is clean and could honestly be subbed in for a modern-day retelling of the fairy tale.

Royal-wise, it was a big year. We had new babies, new princesses, and all the fabulous outfits that surround those events. And while the lure of a jaw-dropping ballgown and diamond tiara is hard to resist, there were some more casual moments that caught our attention too, whether it was Princess Victoria showing flawless maternity style or a certain Spanish queen bringing fairytale shoes into the real world. See which outfits and accessories topped our list of favorites before voting at the end.

1. Princess Mary's New Year's Day outfit
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
The Danish princess started off 2015 right, wearing a dreamy outfit to a formal dinner at the palace. The belted white gown would have been super simple on its own, but the heavy-weight jewelry makes it (not to mention the dramatic velvet cape).

2. Queen Letizia's clear Magrit heels
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
The Spanish brand sells their Cinderella-inspired mules for around $300, and the Queen loves 'em, sporting the pair to an official event with her husband and daughters. She wore them again a week later to a palace reception.

3. Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen dress, worn to Princess Charlotte's christening
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
By now the world knows the Duchess of Cambridge can rock a chic christening look like nobody's business. Kate's cream McQueen suit (and Jane Taylor hat) matched Charlotte's cascading robe in the same manner as her earlier McQueen look did when it was George's big day.

4. Prince George's mini-me William outfits
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
Princess Charlotte hasn't had enough outings to land her on our list (yet), but big brother George most certainly has. Of his many stylish moments this year—one of which caused kiddie Crocs to sell-out—the best might be the retro-inspired outfits he's been wearing, nearly identical at times to ones dad Prince William wore as a little guy.

5. Princess Sofia's Zuhair Murad gown, worn the day before her wedding
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
Before she officially became a princess, Sofia Hellqvist proved she had the whole fairytale fashion thing down. For a formal lunch preceding her summer nuptials, the now-princess picked Zuhair Murad with a splash of crystals across the front and a sash that flowed in the wind. Dreamy.

6. Princess Deena's fashion week wardrobe
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
This royal owns her own boutique, making New York Fashion Week a work trip. She dresses to impress and routinely catches the eyes of street style photographers, making it a no-brainer to anoint her with the title of best-dressed royal at NYFW. There were strong moments throughout the entire week, but this electric blue Rosie Assoulin number was our favorite.

7. Queen Maxima's culottes
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
The Netherlands' Queen Maxima is a fashion plate we love keeping tabs on (she's so impeccably turned out, we've yet to see the woman wear a pair of jeans!). The year was filled with chic moments for her, but there's one that deserves extra attention: Yes, that's a pair of satiny slick culottes, worn with a bold floral top to a children's concert. Love.

8. Princess Victoria's maternity style (especially this pillbox hat look)
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
Currently expecting her second child, Princess Victoria's pregnancy style has been pretty flawless. It was a close tie between this inky purple-blue dress and the under-$100 ASOS dress she had shortened, but we're most besotted with this polished pick due to the finishing touch. How Jackie Kennedy is that pillbox hat?

9. Princess Mette-Marit's boho-chic dress, worn to Beatrice Borromeo's wedding
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
Of all the royal families in attendance at Beatrice Borromeo's summer wedding to Pierre Casiraghi, it was Norway's princess who impressed us the most. Her dress was delicate, floaty, and ultra-romantic—and instead of a high-wattage tiara, she went with a sweet crown of blush roses.

10. Kate Middleton's custom Jenny Packham, worn to a state banquet at Buckingham Palace
From Kate Middleton's Tiaras to Queen Letizia's Amazing Shoes, The Best Royals Style Moments of 2015
Even though the first thing to steal our attention about Kate's appearance at October's state banquet was her tiara (as a rule, she doesn't like to wear them very often), we were quickly distracted by the poppy-red Jenny Packham gown she picked. The full, flowing skirt was perfect for a princess, and we loved the bold color on her.

What was the best royal style moment of 2015?

One of Kate Middleton's other lovely Jenny Packham gowns earned her a nomination on our list of the very best red-carpet dresses of 2015—come see all the options and vote for your favorite!

Here’s What Queen Letizia Would Look Like as a Barbie

If there's any chatter about who would make the world's most glamorous Barbie doll, we now have a conclusive answer. Queen Letizia has been miniaturized for Madrid's Fashion Doll Show this weekend, and she cuts a stunning figure, even when under a foot tall.

The doll was created by artist Vasili Barbier of the Russian company AFD Group, and the Spanish queen's "subtle beauty and elegance" were pointed to as reasons they chose to make a mini. The doll's dress is a hybrid of two styles Letizia has been spotted in, rather than a direct replication. The general silhouette is inspired by a Felipe Varela gown she wore to a formal dinner preceding Kate Middleton and Prince William's 2011 wedding. The addition of the sheer sleeves, meanwhile, came from a gown she picked for the coronation of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands (hubby to another best-dressed royal, Queen Maxima). The color of the doll's dress feels like a direct mix of both.

For Kate's prewedding dinner, Letizia chose this lavender-gray ball gown, covered in lace and totally fit for a royal. The designer, Felipe Varela, is one she wears often—she sported a shorter, dusty rose dress for the actual royal wedding the day after this snap was taken. And, much like the Duchess, she rewears her pieces (including the pink style she wore to the nuptials).

Here's What Queen Letizia Would Look Like as a Barbie
The sleeves on the doll's dress were inspired by another Varela dress she chose for the coronation of King Willem-Alexander in the spring of 2013. When Letizia wore the actual gown, she finished the look with a Maria Nieto hat and shoes from another brand she favors: Magrit. The Spanish brand is responsible for the clear Cinderella shoes she's rocked a few times.

While many of the dolls shown at the Madrid convention end up being auctioned for charity (or produced for retail), mini-Letizia will suffer neither fate. Rather, she's set to be gifted to her majesty, whereupon we hope she lives out the rest of her days in a gorgeous palace somewhere.
