These Are The Best Denim Styles for Short Girls

Short girls, rejoice! These are the best denim styles for you. While we staunchly believe that you should forget just about everything you've been told about what not to wear just because you're a wee bit vertically challenged (go for a midi skirt at work and don't be afraid to wear flats out to a party!), it is still true that there are those styles that will instantly make you look—and feel—decidedly taller. Jeans are no exception to this rule, and considering how much we love the off-duty wardrobe staple, it's about time we talk about how to make them work best for you. For the ultimate in short-girl style inspiration, we look to some of the chicest of the style set, below.

'70s Flares:
These Are The Best Denim Styles for Short Girls
At 5’ tall, Kourtney Kardashian knows a thing or two about how to dress a petite frame. With a slim thigh, a flare jean will elongate you legs—no matter your height. Channel your inner runway model and pair your denim with a chunky heel to give your flare a little bit more length.

High-Waisted Styles:
These Are The Best Denim Styles for Short Girls
Miroslava Duma is a petite 4'11", but has been spotted in little other than denim as of late. Most styles she dons have a flattering high waist, which continues the line of her leg upward for an elongating look that looks good whatever the kind of jean may be.

Ankle Crop Straight Legs:
These Are The Best Denim Styles for Short Girls
Amanda Seyfried, another petite denim lover, stands tall at about 5'3". Her jean of choice? The ankle crop. Seyfried knows the power of the most flattering silhouette out there, showing off your ankles just enough to make your legs look longer and, as a bonus, giving you a bit of French-girl chic.

Dark Wash Skinnies:
These Are The Best Denim Styles for Short Girls
Ashley Olsen, at 5'3", knows dark-wash skinny jeans are universally flattering. When it comes to jeans for petite girls, the slimmer the better—especially in the thigh and hip areas. Keep the eye traveling up and down, lengthening those legs of yours, with a pair that stays skinny throughout.

Lauren Conrad’s #1 Outfit Tip for Busy Women Is Brilliantly Simple

Thanks to Laguna Beach, we've been taking style cues from Lauren Conrad since high school. That's a serious journey, people. Even as adults, we're still attuned to whatever advice she throws out, whether it's specific tips on how to wear head-to-toe metallic or what to pull on for drinks after work. The beauty of LC is that as we've gotten older, she has too, meaning the takeaways have changed to reflect all sorts of new style situations and conundrums. Her latest tidbit is about how to save time when you're an on-the-go woman balancing work, life, and family.

"I've been so busy lately that I've just been going for neutrals. As separates, they're so easy to throw together," she told Glamour at an event to fete her new book on entertaining. Her recent outfits—packed for a very busy trip doing press in New York City—exemplifies the point perfectly.

Lauren Conrad's #1 Outfit Tip for Busy Women Is Brilliantly Simple
For getting around on a rainy day, the former reality star chose a pale gray coat and white basics. The topper is a smart one since it's both tailored and relaxed enough to work for ensembles that fall on any spot of the style spectrum. The light hue doesn't read too harshly against white, but also works with black. Win-win. Her sandals are by Schutz.

Lauren Conrad's #1 Outfit Tip for Busy Women Is Brilliantly Simple
For a stop on Amazon's Style Code Live (where she gave out stellar advice on hostess gifts) she wore a simple black blouse and skirt that looked perfectly polished worn together, but could also be broken out and used as anchoring pieces for separate outfits.

Lauren Conrad's #1 Outfit Tip for Busy Women Is Brilliantly Simple
She repeated the two-piece look when stopping by the SiriusXM studios, wearing the same pair of black Schutz sandals too. This shows the same style lesson again: The matching Alice + Olivia set is office-ready, but she could easily wear the top with skinny jeans on a flight home or tuck a plain white tee into the skirt and wear to a causal meal. Because it's neutral gray, it would work with anything else she has in her suitcase.

Lauren Conrad's #1 Outfit Tip for Busy Women Is Brilliantly Simple
Taking a break from monochrome, she paired a black A.L.C. tank with white wide-leg Alice + Olivia pants for another talk show appearance. Imagine every single piece of this outfit paired with something from the above looks. Easy, right? That's exactly why she's going with neutrals only.

Professionally and personally, Lauren knows how to put an outfit together. Come see three she styled just for us!

The Spring 2016 Trends You're About to See Everyone Wearing, According to Pinterest

When you check out that pic of Australian style star Nicole Warne in her off-the-shoulder look, does some version of, "I need to get me some of that!" come to mind immediately? If it does, you're right on trend. The folks at Pinterest basically know us better than we do ourselves, with insight into exactly what we're searching for and pinning (a sure indication of what's bubbling up in real time). Even though the vernal equinox just passed, early birds have been planning their spring style for awhile, and the season's biggest trends are now very apparent.

"We saw spring fashion popping up in January, and it really picked up steam in February," Larkin Brown, researcher and in-house stylist at Pinterest, shared with us. Specifically, exposed shoulders have had a strong presence, making it a sure thing that once the sun comes out, you'll be seeing dresses and tops like Miss Warne's everywhere. "The off-the-shoulder trend has firmly taken hold on Pinterest. Shoulder-baring looks have doubled since the beginning of January."

The other trends that Pinterest knows will be exploding on streets near you soon?

Bold earrings.
Statement necklaces and arm party situations have given way to pay-attention earrings. "Instead of the minimalist studs that previously dominated Pinterest, drop earrings and chandeliers are gaining ground," Larkin said.

High-neck bikinis.
"We're already at the peak of swimsuit pinning as people plan ahead for spring break and summer vacation. This year's trend are high-necked halter bikinis, from sporty styles to boho crochet."

Boho festival fashion.
No matter what the Coachella calendar might tell you, festival fashion extends way beyond two weeks in the California desert. "Our data shows that pinners have been planing their concert-going looks for month," Larkin explained. "Festival style pinning began as early as January and will probably peak in May."

Lace-up sandals.
Sexy, strappy sandals are a trend that's still building. "As temperatures rise, these are moving up, with pinning up 172% year-over-year," she said, noting that the team sees popular images of pairs styled with swimwear, casual looks, and date-night dresses.

Priyanka Chopra’s Style Rules for Going Just the Right Amount of Sexy

If you're not watching Quantico yet—seriously, get on it. We can't get enough of Priyanka Chopra's badass character, FBI cadet Alex Parrish on screen, and we're loving her IRL too, with her just-sexy-enough style. The 33-year-old actress floored us in a peek-a-boo lace dress at the Oscars this year that was both elegant and alluring—and that's the magic of her style. With every look, Chopra proves that sexy does not have to mean showing lots of skin. She goes for classic silhouettes with small details that take it to the next level.

With just a hint of a cutout at the midriff, Chopra gives this demure silhouette some edge.

Priyanka Chopra’s Style Rules for Going Just the Right Amount of Sexy
Lace-up tops can be intimidating, depending on just how tightly you intend to tie them. Chopra opts for a long-sleeved version and ties it with medium tension to show just the right amount of skin. Paired with a mini, it's the ultimate all-seasons date night outfit.

Priyanka Chopra’s Style Rules for Going Just the Right Amount of Sexy
Chopra keeps it balanced. if she's going to show some skin with sheer illusion or lace insets, like she does here, she'll make sure the dress is mid length to keep the look sophisticated.

While Chopra does wear a lot of black, she's also a fan of jewel-tone colors. This emerald halter neck has a deep V-neck, but again, the longer hemline keeps it chic.

So many of Chopra's outfits need a second look. This tea-length ensemble features a faux crop top with a sheer organza intent at the midriff, giving the illusion of skin.

This one-shouldered cobalt number has a slit-to-there, but the looser silhouette and covered-up too keep it elegant.

Malia and Sasha Obama Just Wore Perfect Spring Outfits in Cuba

Since we're talking spring fashion, it's only fitting that the Obamas arrived to rain in Cuba yesterday. It's a frustration that characterizes dressing for the finnicky season—how do you find something that's on-trend, easy to wear, and appropriate should the weather turn steamy, chilly, or, ugh, wet? Malia and Sasha Obama both got it just right in short dresses they paired with sneakers, the classic shoe of choice for long days of playing tourist that also happens to be having a major style moment. Plus, they're a wise pick for inclement weather since cleaning them is easy, and you're less likely to slip and slide on rainy surfaces (versus slick leather sandals or heels).

Younger sis Sasha picked a black Shoshanna dress with contrasting white details at the neck and running vertically down the front (shop it here for $385). Along with the skater shoes, the accent keeps the look young and breezy, and it confirms something we're noticing about her style: She likes tactile embellishments. Mom Michelle is wearing a spring-friendly Carolina Herrera dress.

Malia's print-block dress pairs a dark ditsy floral on the bottom with a lighter version up top. While blooms are a springtime fashion classic, the tinier style speaks to this season's obsession with the '70s. Her bright-white kicks are a comfy way to finish off the look, though we just spotted a clue that this is a major shoe girl. Peek at the above snap of the fam stepping off the plane, would you? Malia's in something different, wearing of-the-moment lace-up flats! We love both styles equally, but we're impressed with the fashion foresight. When it comes to iffy early spring days, keeping a second pair of shoes handy is genius. Switch them out as needed because, honestly, who'd want to ruin cute leather skimmers in the rain?

One of the major reasons we've fallen so in love with both girls' style? The way they constantly inject personality into their picks, reminding the world that not only do they like to play with fashion, but, hey, they're still just your average American teens at heart. In this snap you can see Sasha's skinny black choker, a favorite accessory of hers that was undoubtedly inspired by today's Insta-models. Malia's pretty trumpet sleeves, flaring out right at her elbow, are also on full display in this side shot. Nice little bursts of personality, huh?

The girls are traveling with their parents as their spring break trip, and it's already been a big year for both. Earlier this month they attended their first formal White House dinner and looked so grown-up!

Gigi Hadid Wore Another Amazing Jacket-Dress for a Night Out

Gigi Hadid has done it again.

Gigi Hadid Wore Another Amazing Jacket-Dress for a Night Out

"It" being "stunned in another jacket-as-a-dress ensemble," of course. The blond beauty stepped out with her fellow supermodel sister Bella Hadid for a night of dinner and dancing at celeb-fave hotspot The Nice Guy in West Hollywood—and both ladies crushed it in the style department.

Gigi, who wowed us in a Versace blazer-turned-minidress at a Paris Fashion Week party last week, donned an acid-wash denim jacket-dress with super-sexy thigh-high boots (the kind that Kendall and Kylie Jenner have been obsessed with lately too). Bella sported a clingy beige sweater dress with a glossy bomber jacket and black sandals for the models' night on the town.

Sure, this might have been a super-chic choice for Saturday night fun with friends, but we're also getting major date-night inspo from both gals' get-ups. After all, if Gigi has anything to say about, jackets are the dresses to wear this spring.

The Spring Layering Outfit Essential: Perfect Leather Jackets, All Under $300

While the spring season may conjure up images of floral sundresses and sandals, the early-March weather doesn't always cooperate with our fashion dreams. Depending on what climate you happen to live in, the temperature can fluctuate from "Where is my Canada Goose?" to "I really wish I were wearing jean shorts"—all in a single day. As such, when getting dressed during this transitional season, layering is a must. And it's no secret how much we love layering. An opportunity to style multiple pieces we're currently obsessed with, all at the same time? Yes, please. Creating an outfit around our favorite piece of the season in a totally different way for every day of the week? Sign us up. And, as women on the go, we need to roll with the punches when it comes to our wardrobe—taking off and adding layers as necessary—as we run from a day at the office to drinks afterward; morning brunch with friends to a late-night party—without batting an eyelash. One of our favorite spring layers? The leather jacket. Classic as it may be, the style options are endless. Choose an edgy motorcycle shape to pair with a cocktail dress when heading out at night; a clean, colorless style when slipping into that pencil skirt for the office; or more casual cropped bomber when reaching for that perfect spring jacket to go with your slouchy off-duty denim. Lightweight and cropped, but warm enough to keep you toasty warm as the wind begins to whip, you need a leather jacket in your spring wardrobe arsenal if you don't already have one. Real or faux, leather can get expensive, but there are some great options out there that won't break the bank. In all shapes and sizes, this spring wardrobe essential is not only totally easy to style, but it's more affordable than ever.

Spring Outfit Ideas That’ll Look Great on Petite Women, From 5′ to 5’5″

admin

Spring 2016 is full of terrific fashion trends, but if you look at the runway and think you're too petite to pull off those bold pantsuits, flares jeans and cropped jackets, and yes, horizontal stripes, think again. Here are eight spring outfit ideas that are ideal for women from 5' to 5'5" as modeled by our favorite petite stars, whose senses of style are anything but small.

(And hey, if you're above 5'5", these will totally work, too!)

At 5', Janelle Monae packs a punch in a bright red pantsuit with matching cage sandals.

Reese Witherspoon—5'1"—proves that flares work for shorter women as well as tall. She paired hers with a cropped jacket, printed top, and feminine accessories.

Emma Roberts, 5'2", pays tribute to the '90s in a spaghetti-strap top and cropped trousers. She adds pop with red sandals.

Also 5'2", Sarah Hyland gives the Taylor Swift-approved matched set a 2016 update.

More '90s goodness: Dakota Fanning, 5'4", brings back the lace-trimmed camisole, paring it with an embellished black skirt and gold ankle-strap sandals.

Rainbow stripes have to be one of our favorite trends of the season. Meghan Trainor, 5'4", teamed her pencil skirt with a black blouse and platforms for day-to-night glam.

Pop a tank or T-shirt under a crop top, like Rowan Blanchard, 5'5".

Lily Collins, 5'5" makes a black slip dress work for day with a leather jacket and flat ankle boots.

These Next-Level Jeans are Spring Outfit Game-Changers

admin
254

Fashion week street style has been rife with jeans this season. And, as we enter spring (aka prime denim weather), we couldn't be more thrilled. We love an exaggerated flare, a pair of cropped skinnys, and the perfect vintage straight-leg style, but it's the next-level denim that has been coming out in droves. You heard it here first: Remember those Vetements jeans we spotted at the beginning of the month? They are, quite possibly, the most coveted item of the season thus far. And there's more where those came from.

The best part about the below styles is that, while you're welcome to mix them with statement tops or bold sweaters, they hold their own quite well when paired with a simple T-shirt or blouse. These jeans are statements all on their own, and we're currently lusting after every single pair.

Raw Hem:
These Next-Level Jeans are Spring Outfit Game-Changers
Simple as this denim style may be, the unraveled, raw hem truly takes it to the next level. This one looks best in an ankle crop, but comes in all shapes and sizes—from skinny to wide leg and everything in between. You can even DIY your own by cutting off the hem of your jeans with a pair of scissors!

Fringe:
These Next-Level Jeans are Spring Outfit Game-Changers
Take your raw hem one step further and go for a fringe style. Look for these jeans in a shorter length, so the end of the fringe hits you at the ankle. Not sure how to hem them? We've got a tutorial, here.

Two Jeans in One:
These Next-Level Jeans are Spring Outfit Game-Changers
Popularized by French design house, Vetements, this look is literally two pairs sewn together. With front and back seams, an uneven hem, and head-turning butt details (see it here!), these jeans are very cool. The Vetements piece is a major investment—so splurge, or look for a similar pair.

Patchwork:
These Next-Level Jeans are Spring Outfit Game-Changers
If you're looking for a trend that is head-turning, but one that also boasts a classic shape you already know works for you, go for patchwork. Much like the raw-hem style, it's sometimes the simplest details that make the boldest statements.

Colorful Trim:
These Next-Level Jeans are Spring Outfit Game-Changers
Add a little flair to your denim with a colorful trim. Whether you go for a simple ribbon or piping, or opt for a fringe or pom-pom style, this denim is the perfect pairing for your classic white T-shirt this spring.
